Just learning to read Tarot Cards.. Outside interpretation help?

I just spent three weeks learning the whole tarot deck, in depth, and I just did my first reading. I’m curious as to what anyone with experience thinks these cards in this layout might mean.

I set out curious about how my work week would go, this week, using the Cross of Truth layout, and here’s what I got.

Position 1 – Basis – Ace of Swords
Position 2 – Desires, Fears/Hopes – The Empress
Position 3 – Helpful Matters – Ten of Swords
Position 4 – Obstacles – Five of Swords
Position 5 – Outcome – King of Cups.

Now, I’ve of course had my own interpretation for all this, the one that has me particularly stuck, is the King od Cups in the outcome position.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Tarot Question….. what do these cards mean?

I like someone, and I know it’s next to impossible for us to be together cause he’s my manager and he has a long distance gf…

but I asked the cards whether I should ‘wait’ for him and I got:
The Lovers, five of Pentacles, The Sun

and I asked again whether he’s about to make a move or something (cause he kind of flirts with me sometimes) and I got:

Ace of Cups, nine of Swords (Reversed), and Page of Cups

I could use some outside perspective, can you tell me what you think?

(also I asked about another guy who likes me, and I got: four of Pentacles, two of Cups, and King of Cups)

what does all of this mean?

This is one of those cards that gets so terribly misinterpreted. The Hermit is not what it appears to be and when people find out the real meaning of this mysterious card, they’re quite surprised. Well, maybe you’ll be surprised after reading this article. Whether you are or not, you WILL learn EXACTLY what the Hermit means in both its normal and reversed keys. Most people when they think of the card The Hermit, think that it refers to a person who is, in fact, a hermit; somebody who cuts himself off from the rest of the world. That is after all the normal definition of a hermit. Well, in this case, they are not exactly right. The normal key meaning of the card The Hermit doesn’t mean this at all. In its normal position, The Hermit represents a situation where the solution to the problem is in front of you. All you have to do is look up and find it. It also means that it’s okay to experiment with things to find a solution but care is required to avoid making costly mistakes.

However, the most important meaning of this card is to inform the subject that the ultimate responsibility is his. Yes, he can get guidance and assistance from outside sources, but in the final analysis, he has to be the one to take action.

Now, in reverse meaning, yes, The Hermit does stand for somebody who is trying to cut himself off from the rest of the world. The subject is engaged in activities that are harmful to his present situation. He feels isolated and alone. He feels like nobody cares. This really comes down to having a change of attitude as all of these “imagined” problems are just that.

In many cases, this card shows a person who is letting foolish pride get in the way. He is too stubborn to admit that he is wrong and won’t let anybody help him because to him, that means admitting that he’s weak and that he couldn’t solve his problems without the help of those around him. Foolish pride can be a very destructive thing to all of us.

Whenever I see this card coming up in a spread, especially in the seventh position, it makes me want to shake the subject in order to knock some sense into him. Negativity on this scale is one of the most destructive forces in our world. No man is an island. I was told that many times in my life and it is very true. There is nothing wrong with admitting that we need help, and cutting ourselves off from the ones who can help us is just foolish.

The Hermit is what I call the “wake up” card.

Sometimes it’s later than we think, and then it’s too late to do anything about our situation.

Last time we talked about identifying with a card, chosen either at random or by visual selection and being open to any sub-conscious messages that card might suggest.

I talked about how it might be if I drew the Three of Rods and concentrated on what the design is saying to me. I began with the ideas – suggested by the design – of: concentration, energy, beautiful colours, velvet smoothness, peace. Excitement at holding this beautiful egg-shape.

A double helix of energy is rising from the design. This prompted the question:have I made it? I get the sense that it may be alive! Surely it is some miraculous, alchemical secret. My subconscious has informed me directly that I have access to a wonderful, living secret.

But what if I drew the Three of Rods and it was upside down or reversed?

If the card is reversed (appears upside down) the intuitive message you need to take from it is modified. In the case of the Three of Rods, I would still have access to the creativity or beautiful secret, but I need to be aware that there may be some blockage.

At this stage, I need to stay in the reverie, letting my mind flow freely around any further images that might come to me.

I might get the sense I am trying too hard to control an outcome, or that there is some outstanding task to be completed. If no guidance comes, I will pass the issue over to my higher and unconscious selves, and forget it for the time being, waiting for synchronicities or dream messages to help clarify the situation later.
